
KAMPALA – Shallon Turyahabwa has won a against China Railway Construction Engineering Group after the company dismissed her last year without any reason, thus not paying her, leaving her to suffer on the streets of Kampala.
Following the incident, Shallon ran to Rwabogo and Company Advocates who immediately contacted the compay but her former bosses refused to talk.
“Then I alerted the commissioners of labour who took action and summoned the management of the company who in turn stubbornly started sending junior staff to represent them in the Ministry until this matter was referred and upgraded in the Ministry of court. Am very happy at last this worker got justice,” Rwabogo and Company Advocates said.
According to Rwabogo, the company was ordered to pay a sum of four million six hundred thirty five thousand to the victim.
“It is well within your knowledge that the above dispute was determined in our client’s favour and you were ordered to pay our client a sum of UGX. 4,635,000/= (Four million six hundred thirty five thousand only) within seven days from March 31, 2021,” Rwabogo and Company Advocates wrote to China Railway Construction.
“We hope you will co-corporate and have this settled within 7 days to avoid further proceedings in this dispute which may be at your cost. We will be grateful for your kind corporation.”
They added that, “Workers join me to congratulate her our own fellow worker for this victory and also thank the Directorate of Labour in the Ministry of Gender Labour and social Development for this kind of improvement.”
