
KAMPALA — President Museveni has appointed Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) MP, Lt. Col. Ronaldo Kakurungu as the new Defence Deputy Spokesperson, replacing Deo Akiiki.
Col. Akiiki on Sunday said he had been by the UPDF leadership to go and further his studies and military career at the Senior and Staff College.
“I thank the UPDF Leadership for nominating me to go and further my studies and military career at the Senior Command and Staff College. Karibu Ndugu Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu to take charge of the office of the Deputy spokesperson of the ministry and UPDF. Alluta Continua, ” Col. Akiiki who has been the deputy army spokesperson since March 2017 when he was appointed to that position tweeted on Sunday morning.
Lt Col Kakurungu is a veteran military publicist who has worked with the media for a long time as a spokesman of several Divisions across the country including the UPDF second Division.
He came into limelight at the peak of the UPDF raid into the Rwenzururu Kingdom where the military is said to have killed hundreds of Kingdom gaurds and civilians.
He regularly engaged the public through the media on latest developments.
