
KAMPALA — A close family member to Prof Kajabago Ka-Rusoke has dismissed reports of his death and said the veteran National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi lecturer is still breathing.
The family member however confirmed that Prof. Ka-Rusoke is still admitted in hospital, battling Covid-19.
Prof. Ka-Rusoke who is a senior Presidential Adviser on Ideology had been pronounced dead on Sunday.
Kajabago-ka-Rusoke, 83 is an old-style Marxist-Leninist trained in the Soviet Union and Cuba.
He has regularly written about politics and governance and because of his wisdom, Kajabago-Ka-Rusoke has usually been referred to as “Uganda’s political science encyclopedia” by many of his close associates.
Meanwhile, Uganda has recorded 1727 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours — signaling a 18. 7 % positivity rate.
This brings the nationwide count to 61,977 according to Ministry of Health figures released Sunday afternoon.
The figure becomes Uganda’s second highest number of Covid-19 cases in a single day since the pandemic began.
Data from the Ministry of Health further indicated that the country recorded 5 deaths —bringing the total number to 428.
Ministry of Health data shows the country had by Sunday cumulatively recorded 61977 Covid-19 cases with at least 884 patients admitted to hospitals across the country.
Cumulative recoveries have reached 48,160. The number of vaccinated people have reached 777,805.
Uganda is struggling with the entrance of other variants like the South African, Indian, and British mutants.
Uganda imposed Covid restrictions that include a ban on inter-regional travels, curfew between 21:00 to 05:30 and closure of learning institution.
