
KAMPALA – The National Covid-19 Task Force has resolved to give each vulnerable Shs100000 covid-19 cash relief.
According to the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, they have secured a sum of Shs53b which will be distributed to 530000 Ugandans who are considered to be vulnerable.
Districts like Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka, Gulu, Mbarara, Fort Potal and others are among the beneficiaries.
On Wednesday, the task force announced six priority categories to receive cash relief including saloon operators, people who load and offload cargo, taxi drivers, boda boda cyclists and single mothers.
Others are the youth in slum areas and those who were initially dealing in petty businesses before the president declared the second lockdown that affected their daily incomes.
According to Minister for ICT and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the task force resolved to either send mobile money to the most vulnerable people or vouchers to those who do not have mobile money numbers.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Nabbanja said that anyone who has ever received shs500000 on phone will not be considered vulnerable.
