KAMPALA — Ms Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye has been appointed as the new Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet.
Ms Nakyobe, previously the all trusted State House Comptroller will replace Mr. John Mitala at the helm of Public Service.
She will be replaced by Ms Jane Barekye at her previous posting as State House Comptroller.
Little is known of Ms Barekye, but sources say she has been a State House staff.
Ms. Nakyobe has been the State House accounting officer since 2010 when she took over office from Mr. Richard Muhinda.
In the reshuffle announced Thursday July 15, the President also appointed Maj. Gen David Kyomukama Kasura the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, replacing PS Mr. Pius Wakabi.
Gen. Kasura earned his recent military promotion to the current rank in May this year as President Museveni who is the Commander in Chief of the armed forces promoted 40 senior officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu has replaced Dr. Benon M. Mutambi as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Gen. Musanyufu previously served as the Joint Chief of Staff (JCOS) of the UPDF, the third-highest rank in the Ugandan military.
Immediately prior to his recent deployments, Gen. Musanyufu, a meticulous UPDF officer also served as the Chief of Personnel and Administration in the army, a position that he was appointed to in 2014.
Gen. Musanyufu also previously served as Chief Comptroller Finance of the UPDF and then as Chief of Integrated Resource Management Information System.
