KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has appointed economist Ramathan Ggoobi as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance.
Making changes on Thursday evening, Museveni replaced Keith Muhakanizi with Ggoobi. Muhakanizi has been sent to the Office of the Prime Minister.
“By virtue of the Powers given to the President by Article 174 (2) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby, appoint the following as Permanent Secretaries,” Museveni said.
Ggoobi, a lecturer at Makerere University Business School was recently purportedly appointed Finance Minister to replace Matia Kasaija.
A day later, the final list was made public and the economist was not a minister, evoking quite funny reactions on social media.
