
KAMPALA – Mr Alexander Kibandama, a lawyer by profession, has been appointed the Chairperson of the Board of National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U)
Kibandama, with wealth of experience in ICT and Digital transformation, has been appointed alongside; Mr. Julius Otai, Prof. Annabella Habinka Basaza Ejiri, Dr. Theodora T. Mondo, Mr. Michael Ocero, Ms. Jackie Aneno Obol Ochola, and Dr. Hatwib Mugasa (ED NITA-U)
The Minister of ICT & National Guidance, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi recently appointed the new Board of Directors for the National Information Technology Authority- Uganda (NITA-U) and the swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday, 11 August 2023.
Speaking at the same event, Mr. Kibandama said, “On behalf of the Board I would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Hon. Minister of ICT & National Guidance for entrusting us with the role of guiding policy and strategies at NITA-U aimed at transforming our society.”
“I have followed a number of achievements by NITA-U like the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI), the MDA Internet extension project, the recent price reduction and many more. I look forward to providing leadership and support to these initiatives that are key in transforming service delivery in the country.” he added.
In his remarks, Hon. Baryomunsi said, “Today Digitization and technology remain central in the transformation of this country. This is the reason NITA-U was established in 2009 as the lead agency on that frontline and in my view they have performed very well. As the new Board, tyou have our full support to spearhead the Digital Transformation Drive.”
The NITA-U Executive Director welcomed the new board and thanked the Ministry of ICT & NG for the leadership provided at the time when NITA-U had no Board.
“As NITA-U, we are glad to have a diverse Board to steer the ship and we look forward to tapping into your experience as we work to digitize the nation” said Dr. Hatwib Mugasa.
