KAMPALA – Police say they have recovered two more Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Kampala.
According to Kampala Police spokesman Fred Enanga, the first device was recovered in Mabito area in Nateete and the second in a guest house in Bunamwaya on Monday.
“The information we got this morning was that there was suspicion of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted at Mabito area in Nateete. Our canine unit and bomb squad examined the suspected package and it appeared to be a positive package,” Enanga said.
“Another IED has been located in a guest house in Bunamwaya. We have managed to recover it and plans are in place to detonate it,” he added.
This comes a day after Police said they detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) that had been carried to Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala that is run by Pastor Kayanja.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the bomb was in form of a food flask carried by a one Kintu Ibrahim.
Speaking to journalists outside the church, Pastor Kayanja said a suspected suicide bomber was intercepted before he entered the church and police’s bomb squad was called in to conduct ‘control detonation.
This comes after several alert messages began circulating on social media, warning about an impending attack on Uganda.
Past attacks on Uganda have been said to have been masterminded by ADF, which operates in DRC. They are said to have been behind a terror attack in Kampala in 2021 that claimed several lives and left others injured.
