KAMPALA, UGANDA —Maad McCann, a leading advertising agency, has appointed Joseph A. Lubaaale Bagabo as its new Board Chairman and Marx Rukundo as a new Board Member.
Bagabo, who succeeds Daniel Ligyalingi, brings over 20 years of experience in finance, human capital management, and business strategy. His previous roles include senior positions at Stanbic Bank Uganda, Barclays Bank Uganda (now Absa), and the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services.
“I’m honored to serve as Board Chairman at Maad McCann,” Bagabo said. “The agency’s resilience and foresight have been remarkable, and I look forward to propelling its growth and innovation.”
Ligyalingi, who led Maad McCann for 16 years, expressed confidence in the agency’s future under Bagabo’s leadership. “Our focus on hiring young talent and empowering them for succession has positioned the agency for long-term success.”
Rukundo, currently General Manager at BRAC Social Business Enterprise Uganda, joins the board with extensive experience in commercial management and business development. His previous roles include senior positions at Ipsos Uganda and Orange Uganda.
The appointments are expected to strengthen Maad McCann’s leadership and drive growth. Current directors Annette Sebba, Micheal Kafeero, and Adris Kamuli will ensure board stability.
Maad McCann’s move is seen as a strategic step towards expanding its influence in the region’s advertising industry. With these new appointments, the agency aims to enhance its innovative solutions for clients.
“This is an exciting time for Maad McCann,” said a company spokesperson. “We’re confident that Joseph and Marx will bring valuable expertise and guidance to our team.”
The changes come as Maad McCann celebrates 16 years of operation, a rare milestone for Ugandan companies. Industry experts praise the agency’s commitment to succession planning and leadership development.
