KAMPALA — City businessman Nasser Nduhukire, also known as Don Nasser, will remain in Luzira Prison until October 23, following his latest court appearance. This morning, Nduhukire stood before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi at Buganda Road Court, facing charges of aggravated trafficking and defilement of a minor.
Prosecutor Joseph Kyomuhendo requested an adjournment, citing ongoing investigations into the matter. Nduhukire, 38, and co-accused Promise Ateete, 19 – a personal assistant to Ntungamo Municipality MP Yona Musinguzi – face charges under the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2009, and the Penal Code Act CAP 120.
The charges include aggravated trafficking in children, contrary to sections 3(a) and 5(a) of the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2009, and defilement, contrary to section 129(1) of the Penal Code Act CAP 120. As these charges are capital in nature, Nduhukire and Ateete have not entered a plea.
Chief Magistrate Kayiizi previously noted that the charge of aggravated trafficking in children carries a maximum sentence of death upon conviction, which means the case exceeds the court’s jurisdiction and must be handled by the High Court.
According to the prosecution, Nduhukire and Ateete allegedly trafficked a 16-year-old girl between Acacia Avenue, Tagore apartments, Mwanda road in Kampala district, and Kito Zone, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, between May 23, 2024. They allegedly used fraud, abuse of power, or vulnerability to exploit the minor sexually.
The police allege that Ateete befriended the victim on Snapchat and met her at Aura Bar in Kololo on May 3, 2024. Ateete then introduced the victim to Nduhukire, who took them to Kamokya Apartment, where they were given cocaine. Afterwards, Nduhukire allegedly took the victim to his house and had sex with her in the presence of another girl.
Nduhukire was arrested in neighboring Kenya, where he was hiding, and brought back to Uganda.
