KAMPALA, UGANDA – Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has hosted its annual Bell ObaFest, a three-day festival that drew over 6,000 attendees.
The event, held in Kampala, aimed to promote responsible drinking and environmental sustainability.
“Whilst people enjoy our wide variety of drink options, we strive to ensure that they do so with caution and responsibility,” said Brenda Kobutungi, UBL’s Corporate Relations Manager. “For every 2-3 beers, our teams were around to encourage hydration and our Safe Boda partnership came in handy to discourage drunk driving.”
Bell Lager Brand Manager, Lilian Kansiime, praised the festival’s success.
“This year’s Bell ObaFest was a perfect blend of entertainment and education,” she said. “Over 3,000 people engaged in our Wrong Side of the Road (anti-drink driving) Campaign. We’re proud to have brought people together for a great time while reinforcing the importance of safety and moderation.”
The festival featured various games and competitions, including a survey on drink-driving awareness, which attracted 3,060 participants.
UBL distributed over 2,400 bottles of free Rwenzori Water to encourage hydration.
According to Asante Waste Management, 56% of the 2 tonnes of waste materials collected during the festival was recycled, while 44% was repurposed for animal feed.
UBL demonstrated its commitment to promoting a safe and enjoyable festival experience for all through this Responsible Drinking initiative.
