KAMPALA, Uganda — Child rapper Fresh Kid has made headlines again, this time for his impressive academic performance in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations. The 11-year-old rapper scored 11 aggregates in the exams, a remarkable achievement that has left many in awe.
Fresh Kid, a pupil at Kampala Parents School, has been making waves in the music industry with his catchy lyrics and energetic performances. However, his academic prowess has proven that he is not just a one-trick pony. Despite his busy music career, Fresh Kid has shown that he can balance his studies and still achieve academic excellence.
The Uganda National Examinations Board released the PLE results, showing an overall pass rate of 91.8%. While many candidates performed well, Fresh Kid’s achievement stands out as a testament to his hard work and dedication. The overall pass rate rose to 91.8% this year, up from 88.0% last year.
Girls performed better than boys, while candidates excelled more in mathematics than in English. Additionally, there was a reduction in absenteeism rates among candidates.
Fresh Kid’s academic achievement is a culmination of his hard work and the support he has received from his family, school, and fans. He had earlier expressed confidence in performing well in the exams, and his results have proven that he is a focused and determined individual.
This year’s results also showed a decline in the proportion of candidates attaining Division One, highlighting challenges with questions requiring higher-order thinking skills. The theme for this year’s exams was “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment.”
