KANUNGU – A devastating road accident occurred on January 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 am in Kakureiju village, Kanungu District. A Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number UAM 271U, carrying American tourists, was involved in a fatal crash at Kyeshero Bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Alpha Dadaire, failed to break while navigating a sharp corner on a slope. The vehicle lost control, rolled several times, and ultimately ended up in Kyeshero Bridge.
The crash resulted in the tragic death of Shuldman Harrison Evan, a 40-year-old resident of New York, USA. Three others were injured in the crash, including Zachary Avayou, a 39-year-old resident of Pennsylvania, USA; Jeremy Frederick Wright, a 25-year-old resident of California, USA; and Alpha Dadaire, the driver.
The injured victims were rushed to Bwindi Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased was conveyed to the same hospital. The motor vehicle was towed and parked at Kihihi Police Station, pending inspection and further inquiries.
“We urge all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragic incidents,” said Sp Kananura Michael, CLO-Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
