A new community radio station has been launched in western Uganda by the country’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa.
The radio station, 94.0 Tayari FM, was officially opened by State Minister for National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga, in Bitereko Sub-County, Ruhinda North Constituency, Mitooma District.
Mr Tayebwa, who is also the MP for Ruhinda North Constituency, said the radio station was established to educate and empower local people.
“We want to use this platform to raise awareness about government programmes in areas such as education, agriculture, and health,” he said.
The radio station is owned by Mr Tayebwa and was set up through the Taru Foundation, a local charity.
The launch of the radio station is expected to provide a valuable source of information and entertainment for local residents.
