Songstress Naava Grey has revealed that she took part in the Tusker Project Fame competitions because of the boredom she was experiencing.
Naava Grey made her breakthrough in 2008 through Tusker Project Fame, and since then, she has consistently delivered exceptional music.
According to the singer, she did not know that music was her calling nor that it would put her on the scene she is today.
“I was just having fun. I went to the same competitions because I was bored. I was afraid of this kind of boredom,” she says.
She adds: “I wanted to find out who exactly I was and what my calling was. So I decided to give the competition a try. I did not even have faith that I would be the artist that I am right now. I had not sung before in closed doors.”
She recalls that her voice was not so good and remembers several people telling her not to talk so much.
“But because I loved it so much, I kept going. I had this stubborn nature that I would make it. So, I got the opportunity to record a song, thankfully I got a platform and I was able to record Nteredde.”
The venture (Tusker Project Fame) she stepped into out of boredom later proved to Naava that she had the talent to write songs.
“But because of that stage, I got in touch with a number of producers and artists. I met GNL Zamba, who later connected me to Steve Jean, the man behind Fenon Records and Fenon Events,” she said.
