KAMPALA, Uganda — CEO Summit Uganda has oriented the 13th cohort of its CEO Apprenticeship Program, marking the beginning of a 10-month training initiative.
The program, which started in 2013, aims to equip executives with immersive learning experiences, expert mentorship and skillsets necessary for success in the chief executive role.
Speaking at the orientation ceremony at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Stephen Mukasa, managing director of CEO Summit Uganda, urged the new members to be open to learning and relearning.
“There is going to be a lot of re-learning,” Mukasa said. “We are also going to learn from each and every one in this class.”
Edward Walugembe, managing director of VIVO Energy Zambia and an alumnus of the program, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and courage in leadership.
“You must be ready to acquire skills and competence in something that’s not your normal domain,” Walugembe said.
Rachel Rwakatungu, credit director at Absa Bank Uganda Ltd and a member of the 12th cohort, shared her experiences and lessons learned from the program, highlighting the importance of understanding people and their personalities.
CEO Summit Uganda offers various open leadership programs, including the LEAN Forward Modular program, the Coach Training Executive Program and the Caring for the Carers Executive Program.
