The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, addressed the media today regarding the ongoing 10-day final verification exercise of the party membership register at the party headquarters.
Todwong explained that a team of data experts was hired on Saturday, March 22, to meticulously cross-check village-by-village details, members’ National Identification Numbers, and village codes. He emphasized the sensitivity of this stage, which prompted the closure of offices to facilitate uninterrupted work.
“This exercise is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our membership register,” Todwong said. “We’re also utilizing this opportunity to separate members below 18 from those above, thereby identifying our actual voters ahead of the structure and primary elections.”
Following the completion of this exercise, the secretariat, guided by the Central Executive Committee (CEC), will release the electoral roadmap for both structure and primary elections. This roadmap will provide a clear outline of the party’s electoral process.
Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, the Communications Director of NRM, reassured party members and the general public that the Secretariat offices are closed to enable the secretary general and his team to produce a comprehensive and reliable register.
“This exercise marks the culmination of a one-year update, verification, and digitization process of the NRM membership register, which commenced in March last year,” Dombo said. “We’re committed to delivering a trusted and all-inclusive masterpiece database.”
The media briefing was attended by notable figures, including the Party’s deputy National Treasurer, Hon. Jaqueline Kyatuhaire. This final verification exercise demonstrates the NRM’s dedication to transparency and accuracy in its electoral processes ¹.
