NEPAL – Prof. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda has presented her letters of credence as she takes up her new position as Ugandan Ambassador to Nepal.
According to information provided by the Nepalese Consulate in Kampala, Prof. Kikafunda presented her credentials on March 6 to the Rt. Hon. Ramchandra Paudel, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal in the capital, Kathmandu.
Nepal and Uganda have been fostering diplomatic relations for decades, focusing on mutual cooperation and development.
Prof. Kikafunda’s appointment marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Historically, both countries have shared goals of promoting economic development, poverty reduction, and good governance, with support from the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), exploring bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, education, and more, with Uganda interested in Nepal’s federalism and local governance expertise, and Nepal keen on Uganda’s agriculture and natural resources management expertise.

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Nepal’s Honorary Counsel to Uganda, has also been instrumental in strengthening ties between the two nations. As a renowned businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Ruparelia has been recognized for his contributions to Uganda’s economy and society.
His earlier appointment as Honorary Counsel has been seen as a significant step in boosting Nepal-Uganda relations, particularly in areas like trade and investment.
According to Dr. Ruparelia, the presentation of credentials by Her Excellency Prof. Kikafunda is expected to increase cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
