MUKONO – In a major breakthrough, police in Mukono district have apprehended nine suspects in connection with a string of aggravated robberies in the area. The suspects were arrested on March 2, 2025, while traveling in a white Noah vehicle with registration number UBR 254 E along Bombo Road.
Following the arrest, police say one of the suspects revealed the location of a rifle used in the robberies, leading police to recover the firearm on March 7, 2025.
“The rifle was found hidden in a sack at the home of Wagube Ivan Stephen, also known as Ivan Musambwa, in Lukojjo village, Mpoma Parish, Nama sub-county, Mukono district.”
Alongside the rifle, police also seized a pair of military uniforms, a military jacket, and house-breaking tools, suggesting that the suspects may have been using these items to carry out their crimes.
“This arrest and recovery are a significant milestone in the police’s efforts to combat crime in Mukono district. The police have been working tirelessly to address the rising concerns of aggravated robberies in the area, and this breakthrough is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”
