KAMPALA – The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) has relocated to its new home at Plot 891, Kigobe Road, Kyambogo Hill, next to Public Health Nurses College. As of Monday, March 31, 2025, all UVTAB services will be accessible at the National Skills Assessment Centre.
Established under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act 2025, UVTAB operates under the Ministry of Education and Sports. The board is mandated to assess and certify competencies obtained through formal and informal vocational or technical education and training.
“The relocation of UVTAB is part of the government’s efforts to reform the TVET sector in Uganda,” said a UVTAB in a statement. “Our new location will provide easier access to our services, and our automated client support services will ensure efficient and effective customer support.”
UVTAB’s functions include accrediting assessment centers, assessing and certifying TVET candidates, registering candidates for assessment, and developing rules and regulations for TVET assessment and certification. The board also has the power to investigate and determine cases of assessment malpractice and to promote on-the-job training and assessment in industry.
“We are committed to providing high-quality assessment and certification services to TVET candidates. Our goal is to ensure that Ugandans have the skills and knowledge needed to drive socio-economic transformation and national development.”
The board is led by a Board comprising industry experts, educational professionals, and representatives from the world of work. The Executive Secretary serves as the secretary of the Board and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Secretariat.
In addition to its new location, UVTAB has also automated most of its client support services to provide efficient and effective customer support. The board’s customer support team is available 24/7 to provide updates and assistance through designated WhatsApp numbers and emails.
“We believe that technology should be used to enhance our services and provide better support to our clients. Our automated client support services will ensure that our clients receive timely and effective support.”
