KANYANYA – Police in Kanyanya Thursday arrested a maternal uncle for allegedly kidnapping a one year old.
Reports reaching this website – subsequent to the investigations – indicate that one, Brian Lukwago, hatched a plan to kidnap his one year old nephew two weeks ago and brought Henry Kato on board
Kato is the driver of the home stead.
The child identified as Vemavarapu Bricklie was kidnapped from Wampamba Zone Kanyanya Kawempe, together with Jamila Nangobi, the maid.
Upon interrogation, the baby’s maternal grandmother, uncle and six other close relatives have been found to be behind the kidnap .
The alleged kidnappers called the baby’s mother demanding for a 50million ransom while coordinating with the victims uncle Lukwago who went home and pressurized the parents to send the required moneys.
The police maintained a non negotiation policy and began tracking the kidnappers.
Following pressure from police trackers, the housemaid and baby were abandoned in Bweyogerere and given shs.5,000 as transport to home.
The suspects are currently detained at Kawempe Police Station case file SD REF 16/14/06/2018.
