
NAMUTUMBA– Police has today June 27 arrested a man for allegedly operating a Facebook account in the names of the IGP.
The suspect identified as Geoffrey Kalele a resident of Namutumba District is said to have been using an account in the names of Martin Okoth Ochola.
According to the CID spokesman, Vincent Ssekate, Kalele used the fake account between March and June to defraud the public.
“Kalele has been using the fake account to give orders to officers and some unsuspecting officers would follow them,” said Ssekate.
Upon questioning, Kalele accepted his crime and confessed to coning and defrauding people.
It is said that he had so far collected UgX 700,000/- from the public which he used to pay school fees for his children.
Kalele is currently detained at Kampala Central Police Station on charges of forgery, electronic fraud and obtaining money by false pretence.
