
KAMPALA– Police in Kampala has arrested Bosco Eyoko, a security guard and booked him for attempted murder after he reportedly shot and injured his colleague in Ndeeba.
Eyoko 25 who was deployed by KPI Security Services Limited located on sixth Street Industrial Area allegedly shot his colleague Judith Ayugi as she guarded at Baki Auto Dealers.
According to police, Eyoko committed the crime on October 10, 2018; and abandoned his SAR riffle, fled the scene and went into hiding.
The victim was rushed to Mulago Trumor Ward by the area police for medical attention and is now out of danger according to doctors.
Police says it coordinated with various stakeholders and arrested the suspect on Monday morning who confessed having shot his colleague claiming his riffle was faulty.
Upon narrating her ordeal to the officers, the victim stated that she had been connected by her friend to apply for a job at KPI Security Services Limited.
Ayugi 24 submitted her paperwork; requirements on the morning of October 10, 2018, which were verified, signed and was then instructed not to leave the office premises.
On the same day in the evening, she was armed with a baton and a gun, transported to her point of deployment where she was shot by Eyoko.
Eyoku is currently detained at Mukono Police Station on charges of attempted murder.
According to police, such incidents are caused by low levels of professionalism simply because of lacking proper vetting systems and training programmes for their personnel.
