KAMPALA – Police are investigating circumstances under which two security guards were killed in Nabaziza Village, Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District.
The bodies of Ronald Adriko and Justo Latibo were on Tuesday found chopped to pieces in a classroom at Turrus Nursery and Primary School.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said the scene of crime officers were dispatched to the murder scene and so far one suspect has been detained.
“These guards were found killed in the morning and we are investigating circumstances under which they were slayed. We have so far arrested one suspect and he is detained at Kyengera Police Station as he waits to be transferred to Nsangi Main Station,” Mr. Onyango said.
The village chairperson, Mr Amur Wagaba, said they are worried of increasing murders in their area.
“Murders are increasing in this area. We ask police to increase its visibility and I also ask residents to be security cautious. We are worried about these crimes,” Mr. Wagaba said.
Mr Onyango said police will increase foot and motorised patrols in the area to intensify community sensitization on security matters. He also urged locals to alert police on people with suspicious conducts.
“The suspect we have arrested in the two guards’ murder was cited by locals and upon searching his home we found machetes, fake dollars and army uniforms. We are still hunting for more suspects,” he said.
The incident comes five days after another guard was found killed in Nabbingo and dumped by the roadside. Two weeks earlier, another guard who was identified as Leo and attached to Mako Hardware was discovered hacked to death.
