MBARARA – Residents of Muyenga, Kyapotani cell in Kakoba Division in Mbarara on Wednesday, March 6 were left in shock after unknown assailants broke into the house of one Benjamin Kamuhanda and stabbed him to death before raping his girlfriend.
Mr. Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police mouthpiece, has confirmed the murder and registered it under Vide No. CRB583/19.
Mr. Kasasira said preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants broke into the house of Kamuhanda 25, a born of Sheema District at around5 am in the morning of Wednesday, stabbed him from the neck several times before they raped his girlfriend identified as Miriam Nahabwe, 23 whom he had stayed with for three months.
Mr. Kasasira added that Nahabwe has been a resident of Lugazi cell in Kakoba Division who had just gone to sleep over at her boyfriend’s place not knowing it would be her last night with him.
Police further said assailants went away with three phones two of which belonged to Kamuhanda.
The body was picked and taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
No arrest has been made in regard to the gruesome murder but investigations have kicked off.
