KAMPALA – On Monday, police found the body of Dr Catherine Agaba, a medical doctor, in a septic tank at her home in Muyenga, a Kampala suburb, on Monday.
This was after a security guard confessed to police that he murdered the medical doctor who was working at International Hospital Kampala.
According to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, Ronnald Kenny Obony, a security guard at the home, led them to the scene of crime after confessing that he killed the deceased doctor for always reporting him to his boss.
“During interrogation, one of the suspects arrested from Apac told investigators that he had killed her and the body had been dumped into a septic tank in a house in Muyenga,” Mr Onyango said.
The security guard was first found with the deceased’s Iphone, music system and other property before he was arrested and interrogated. Obony, according to police, confessed that he killed Dr Agaba because she often reported him to the boss that he arrived late for his sentry duties.
Police had at first arrested Dr Agaba’s boyfriend, Dr Andrew Ntambi, also a medical doctor, who was reportedly seen with the deceased on the day she disappeared. Dr Agaba disappeared on April 13 after asking for annual leave from IHK.
The arrested doctor reportedly worked at Nsambya hospital in Uganda before going to the US.
Last Friday, the management of IHK, in a statement, said they last had contact with Dr Agaba on April 9 when she applied for her annual leave.
Dr Agaba was born on 29th August 1991. After High School, she was admitted to Mbarara University of Science and Technology where she pursued a degree in medicine and surgery.
Upon graduation, she joined International Hospital Kampala where she had already impressed her fellow doctors and patients as an awesome doctor. Because of her dedication to her workplace, she’d rented a house nearby in Muyenga. She never wanted to go through the struggle of a traffic jam. Better to be a walk away from work.
Little did she know that her leave request would also mark her last day at work. Worse still that she would be murdered and dumped in her own home.
