TORORO – Police in Tororo are hunting for a middle-aged man suspected to have murdered the father of his girlfriend.
The district police commander Roggers Chebene confirmed that the incident occurred last Sunday at around 8 pm in the night at Luck pub in Apokor a rural trading Centre in Mella sub-county Tororo district when the deceased Peter KizitoEchakara a resident of Komelako was beaten by a group of drunkards.
He said it’s reported that the deceased leaked information that her daughter was drinking with a gang of people and wanted her out of the bar since she was to go to school the next day but as he entered into the drinking place, the boyfriend commanded his colleagues to block him from taking away the daughter.
Chebene added that eyewitnesses told police that as the late resisted, the determined gang started fighting him where he then collapsed where then he died before arrival to Tororo district hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.
He says on noticing that he had died the girl’s boyfriend whose name has been withheld fled to an unknown destiny.
The DPC attributed it to failures by the bar management to put up measures that protect their customers especially after getting intoxicated with the alcoholic substances.
He said under CRB 630/ 23/06/2019 police has initiated an investigation into the murder and trace for all the suspects who are currently on the run.
