
KAGADI – A 22-year- old man from Kagadi district has been arrested for pretending to be a woman for about three years.
According to police, the suspect, born in Mityana district has been working as a maid at Muhorro Rest house and this is where he was arrested from.
According to the owner of the Rest House Mr. Charles Mugisa Busigikiro, he received a complaint from his female workers about the suspicious conduct of the suspect and informed the police.
Mr. Mugisha said that employees were complaining that the suspect was pretending to be a woman and residing in the female wing with other female workers.
After receiving complaints, Mr. Mugisha interrogated him and confessed he was a man.
“When I interrogated him he confessed to being a man. He, however, had skirts and dresses for women, necklaces and shoes for ladies,” Mugisa said.
According to Kagadi District Police commander Mr. Romeo Onek Ojara, the suspect lacked clear documents and had pretended for one year at Rest House.
“We are holding him, he congested being biologically a man much as he prefers being called and treated as a woman,” Ojara said.
During interrogation, he reportedly told detectives that he impersonated as a woman in Kabarole district for two years and he did the same in Kagadi district for the past one year.
Mr. Ojara added saying that the suspect revealed he never got attracted to the women however much he stayed with them most of his time.
Ojara who interrogated the suspect said he told him that he has a boyfriend but they have not got involved in any sexual activity.
During interrogation at Muhorro police station, the suspect also told police that he impersonates as a woman in order to get employed in jobs meant for women.
“I previously worked as a house girl in Fort portal town. The wife where I was working knew about my sex but she tolerated me. But the man didn’t know. I do all this to earn a living because I can’t manage jobs for men,” revealed the suspect.
He added saying that he had mastered mimicking women’s voice and their way of dressing so as to survive.
Upon his arrest, he was dressed in a blouse and a skirt in which he said he was comfortable.
Eyewitnesses say the man used to wear a wig on his head his nails were painted.
The suspect is currently being held at Kagadi Police station.
