KAMPALA – Two Mobile money attendants in Zana were on Monday 10 June, gunned down by thugs who were riding on motorcycles.
Police says that these robbers raided the mobile money shop in Zana and killed two women identified as Harriet Nalwadda 33, the owner of a mobile money shop and her employee Maureen Nakabubi 25, both residents of Zana, Makindye Saabagabo.
“It is alleged that five thugs riding on three unidentified motorcycles robbed the victims of an unspecified amount of money before shooting them dead. They were shot near their shop as they were heading home,” said Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
According to the Police, Nalwadda first struggled with the robbers as they were trying to grab her bag that contained the money for the business and after overpowering her, they shot both of them dead and ran away.
Mr. Onyango thanked Kirimanyaga Police post in the area where the case was immediately reported prompting the area cops to swing into action.
“We want to thank the area Police (Kirimanyanga Police Post) for responding in time and the 999 patrols for coordinating the search for the thugs,” he remarked.
He added that police investigations into the shooting are still ongoing, he has therefore requested the public to provide any information in regard to this incident.
It must be recalled that the rate of gun-crime has increased in Kampala in recent times the most recent being the day-light robbery of armed gunmen that robbed a prominent hardware store in Nansana.
