
KISORO– Samuel Buhahano, a resident of Muganza Village in Nyakabingo Parish Chahi Sub County, Kisoro district is on the run after chopping his wife to death over land.
The incident happened on Tuesday, July 23 at around 9:30am.The deceased has been identified as Naome Cyimpaye 39, also a resident of Muganza Village in Kisoro district.
According to Kigezi regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate, Buhahano (suspect) who returned back from Kampala in June is reported to have killed his wife after she blocked him from selling the family land.
Mr. Maate said that the land wrangle was reported to the Kisoro Chief Magistrates court, which stopped Buhahano from selling the home.

He added that the suspect who has been staying with his mother, on Tuesday morning attacked the wife after finding her digging in the garden, cut her to death with the panga and took off.
“It’s a pity a man who would be protecting his wife being the one killing her. We of recent stopped the husband from selling the land but he later directed his wife never to step into it for any activity in the garden” Mr Maate said
He added that this moning, residents informed the police that a man (Buhahano) had chopped his wife into pieces.
“The deceased’s body was taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for postmortem,” he added.
Mr Matte said police is working together with the general public to ensure that the suspect is arrested.
