
KABALE – Police in Kabale is detaining two people for allegedly dumping a six-month-old foetus in a pit latrine.
The suspects have been identified as Phionah Kansiime 24, a bar attendant at City Max bar and Ean Kanryanaho 27, a cashier at the same bar.
The two are a couple and are both residents of Kekubo cell in Kabale municipality.
According to the Kabale district Police Commander Brain Ampaire, the case was reported to police by the Kekubo Local council one Chairperson Alex Byamugisha on Wednesday, July 10, after a tip-off by Topisita Karema who is the couple’s landlord that she discovered a dead foetus in her pit latrine.
Ampaire says that police swung into action and rushed to the crime scene to investigate the matter and subsequently arrested both suspects.
He revealed that the foetus was taken to the hospital mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
Ampeire says that the trio has been charged with abortion pending further investigation in the matter.
He, therefore, calls upon the public to desist from the bad practice of engaging in sexual affairs when they are not yet ready to look after their children.
