NTUNGAMO – Police in Ntungamo are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of the director of Rwamabondo Town School in Rwamabondo Town Council in Ntungamo district.
The deceased has been identified as Obadiah Magara, a resident of Kamuganga cell in Kabaruko ward in Rwamabondo town council.
He was last seen on Wednesday evening of August 14, 2019 by his family before he left home for a nearby trading centre for prayers.
The deceased was nowhere to be found until Thursday evening on August 15, 2019 when he was found lying dead with a small bottle containing poison next to him.
However, it was later found out that the poison bottle could have been placed by someone who had a hand in his death as the poison had just been smeared on his lips and had not been consumed after the postmortem was carried out at Kitagata hospital which indicated that he was strangled instead.
Mr. James Ayebare a friend to the deceased says that he was seen buying a solar set which he took home and later hired an electrician to install it. He is also had supper with his family members before leaving for prayers.
“I last had a discussion with Magara after he had bought a solar panel and installed it at his home. I was shocked on Thursday to hear about the sad news of his death,” Ayebare noted.
Ntungamo district police commander, Damiano Katwesiime says that the matter is being investigated adding that police officers from Ntungamo are teaming up with their counterparts in Kitagata town council to track down the suspects.
Mr Katwesiime added that police has not yet arrested anyone in connection to the crime.
