
KAMPALA – The Kampala Metropolitan Police has arrested one suspect, (identity undisclosed) for allegedly robbing an NGO called Doing Good.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango, the suspect will help in the investigations.
In a statement dated September 26, Mr. Onyango said the thugs gained access to the premises by jumping the perimeter wall and beat up the watchmen that were guarding the place.
“Then they used breaking implements to break the doors and also assaulted other staff. There were fourteen (14) staff members in the house at the time of the attack,” Onyango narrated.
Among the injured are Laureen January F/A 23 years, Elra Hoi F/A 20 years, Eron Bou F/A 19 years all Dutch Nationals, Patrick Komakech and Ivan Tenywa, 34.
Mr. Onyango further disclosed that the thugs made off with UGX 26m, eight laptops, nine mobile phones and jewellery of an unspecified cost.
He said that detectives are at the scene to gather evidence that will be used in the ongoing investigations.
He said more suspects will be apprehended, and he says the group will be charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful wounding and assault.
