MUKONO – Police in Mukono has arrested a man only identified as Odongo for stabbing a prostitute in the chest at Sunset Guesthouse in Ggulu A village, Mukono Central Division
It is alleged that Mr Odongo last night took the deceased, Ms Catherine Nansubuga aka Hawa, 37, a resident of Kitega Village to Sunset Guesthouse in Mukono where the two were to spend the night.
One of the sex workers said that the said Mr. Odongo came to seek their services and Ms Nansubuga picked the call.
“They then went to a bar and had a drink, from where they proceeded to Sunset Guesthouse,” she said
At around 2:00 am the guesthouse’s security guard Mr. Ronald Ndawula and his colleague heard Ms Nansubuga shouting for help, calling names that were later established to be of her friends’.
“I ran to the room where the noise was coming from only to find the door locked. I then peeped through the window and saw blood,” Mr Ndawula said.
“Mr. Odongo tried to flee from the scene but we were able to capture him and we called the police,” he explained.

By the time PML Daily reached the scene Police had already cordoned off the premises and gathered all the sex workers at the guesthouse in one room.
The LCI Chairperson Ggulu A Village Mr. Muhammad Kitakwaana Wasswa blamed the act on lack of cooperation between the guesthouse owner and the village leadership.
“We always invite the guesthouse manager to our security meetings concerning the many crimes in the village but they never turn up,” he said.
Mr Kitakwaana also said that prostitution is on the increase because of the mushrooming factories in Mukono and this has highly increased the crime rate in the area.
Mr. Cephas Kayizi the Guesthouse operator declined to comment on the incident.
Police has since arrested 15 sex workers and Mr. Odongo to help in further investigations.
Nansubuga’s body was taken to Mulago Hospital for post-mortem although Police declined to comment on the matter.
