KAMPALA – The officer in charge of Kironde Police Post, Mr Justus Bwire, has been arrested after a group of officers under his command shot dead the secretary for information in Ssembule A Zone, Kabowa, a Kampala suburb, during a demonstration on Tuesday morning.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire said Mr Bwire is detained at Old Kampala Police Division after David Kibuuka was shot dead in a demonstration at a factory owned by Indians, which they accuse of blocking a community road using sewage. The factory is owned by Shreeji Stationers 2009.
“When the group gathered at the gate of a factory, our officer fired several rounds of bullets to disperse them. One bullet hit Kibuuka and sustained injuries. He was taken to hospital but died on arrival,” Mr Owoyesigyire said in an interview.
