
ABIM – Police in Abim District in Karamoja Sub Region on Sunday 3, raided a bar owned by Mr. Bradford Okori Abura the Abim Hospital Administrator and recovered a flat-screen TV set which the World Health Organisation donated to the hospital.
The raid on the bar located in Orwamuge Trading centre in Lotuke Sub County was on the directive of the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Ms Proscovia Acham.
According to Ms. Acham the TV set was donated to Abim hospital for heart patients but it disappeared.
“We have been asking the hospital management about the disappearance of the TV set but nobody could tell until we got intelligence briefing that the hospital administrator took it to his bar,” she said.
Dr. Anthony Okengo the District Health Director Abim District confirmed to PML Daily that the TV had disappeared but he could not tell who had taken it.
“I have been told the screen has been recovered from the home of the hospital administrator but I have not seen it so I can’t confirm, “he said.
According to Dr. Okengo the screen was removed from the room where it had been installed without any break-ins.
Mr. George Mafuko Walter the acting District Police Commander Abim said they had recovered the TV from Mr. Okori’s bar and they will ask him to record a statement showing how he acquired the screen which is branded WHO.
“After our investigations we shall take him to court to answer charges of theft and abuse of office.
In addition to being Hospital Administrator, Mr. Okori acts as Town Clerk for Kiru Town Council in Abim. When contacted Mr. Okori denied stealing the TV screen from the hospital but did not explain further.
