KAMPALA – Police in Kampala have traced and arrested one of the motorcyclist (a boda boda rider), who was captured on CCTV cameras in attacks against government vehicles.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango said that the suspect whose identity was not disclosed was arrested in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district, on June 28 with the help of CCTV cameras.
“He was later transferred to Katwe Police Station for further management,” Onyango said in a statement.
He added that the suspect is a boda boda rider around Ham Towers.
“He [suspect] admitted that he is the one in the picture we released over the weekend to the media,” said Onyango.
He further noted that they are still looking for other suspected criminals who have been involved in these criminal acts.
In a statement dated June 27, police noted that they have noticed criminals using motorcycles that are damaging and attacking government owned vehicles while on the road.
Onyango said the criminals use improvised petrol bombs they hurl in the vehicles and metallic objects to hit on the windscreens.
He added that the attacks have been reported in areas of Nateete, Katwe and Busega.
