RUKUNGURI— A couple has been held in Rukunguri District for beating their 9-year-old daughter to death.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the suspects as Danson Ampumuza, the biological father and Barbra Ninsiima a step mother both of Kyeshero village Nyabitete Parish Buyanja sub county Rukungiri District.
Maate said Ninsiima assaulted before killing Mary Nimusima, her step daughter of 9 years on Monday July 1 when the husband, a one Ampumuza was away.
“When he came back and was informed of it, they hacked a plan, took the body and dumped it at Kyesero swamp,” Maate said.
The couple later reported their daughter as missing to Marumba Police Post vide SD 03/13/07/2021.
Maate said the body was discovered on Saturday July 17 by two juveniles
Fabian Asaba and Benson Akandwanaho who had gone to cut papyrus alerted the area chairperson one Justus Kamuhamya.
Police retrieved the body to Rwakabengo Healthy Center lll Nortuary pending postmortem.
