
KAMPALA- As the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) crowns up their golden Jubilee celebrations, thousands of graduands have been awarded postgraduate qualifications.
This was held at the institution premises in Kampala on Friday, May 31. with the graduands coming from the various branches such as Gulu, Mbarara, Mbale and the main campus.
Dr. James Nkata, Director General said;
“We are proud of our history, achievements and this is the climax of our golden jubilee celebrations. We have moved to an experiential quality Institution that has produced top-notch leaders that are highly recognised both locally and Internationally.”
He further added;
“We have built a facility of academic giants and over( 60) percent of our staff are PhD holders, trained our students and staff to be able to deal with artificial intelligence, introduced courses that are information technology driven to enable us to keep up with speed. With all the branches converging here today the country is assured of good quality exposed human resource.”
Mrs. Beatrice Namirembe Bitamazire, Chancellor UMI said;
“I congratulate our graduands, thank and welcome you to this auspicious ceremony with all of you from various branches and for showing commitment manifested through this. We are building a foundation that upholds high ethical standards in this country and really grateful for the support from partners, development agencies and the government.”
Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Prime Minister and chief guest on behalf of the President said;
“It gives me great pleasure to officiate at this ceremony and congratulate all the graduands for this milestone. I explore them to have tailor-made solutions that will help in addressing national problems through research and development. The country needs graduates that will create jobs and employ others.”

” All we need is the right attitude, skills because the country is looking for multi-tasked people that are trainable, willing to adjust and learn so that we bring accelerated development to spur this nation to the next level,” he added.
There were over 470 higher degree programs, 2,527 Postgraduate diplomae, and 24 with Ordinary diplomas.
