
KAMPALA – Earlier this week, Professor Mary J. N. Okwakol, the Executive Director, National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) revealed that they had received several requests from higher institutions of learning, requesting to reopen for all students.
She, however, said that would depends on resolutions from the Ministry of Health, national COVID task force and the Ministry of Education and sports.
Now, in his message, President Yoweri Museveni has asked schools to wait for more three months before they can open to allow students back.
“The president has guided that all Higher Education Institutions should continue studying online for at least another 3 months. This is so as to enable government find a lasting solution,” said NCHE in a statement.
The council emphasized the directive that no schools should be open as yet until a decision is made.
