
STATE HOUSE, Nakasero – The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, has released the July-August 2024 Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) examination results at State House, Nakasero.
UBTEB Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye expressed pleasure in presenting the results for Diploma and Certificate programs in Business, Technical, and Physical & Biological Sciences. The examinations were conducted from July 27 to August 30, 2024, in 45 assessment centers, with 1,926 registered candidates.
Notably, 1,804 candidates (94%) pursued Diploma programs, while 122 (6%) pursued Certificate programs. Male candidates outnumbered females, with 1,393 (72%) males and 533 (28%) females.
Out of 1,926 candidates, 1,562 (82%) successfully completed their programs, demonstrating impressive competence. Breakdown: 285 (15%) scored Class I (Distinction), 1,107 (57%) Class II (Credit), and 170 (9%) Class III (Pass).
Female candidates excelled, achieving an 84% completion rate, surpassing males at 80%. They outperformed males in Fashion and Garment Design, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, and Business diploma programs.
Nine candidates with special needs sat for the examinations, with six successfully completing their studies.
The completion rates for Technical Diploma programs were impacted by poor performance in Thermodynamics, Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Surveying, and Engineering Mathematics. These candidates will have opportunities to improve when examinations are next offered.
STEM subjects remain a challenge, affecting performance in Technical Colleges.
The assessment process integrated Continuous Assessment, Industrial Training, Practical Assessment, Real-life Projects, and final written examinations, preparing trainees for career progression, employment and entrepreneurship.
