
KAMPALA – The Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) on Thursday released the July-August 2024 examination results, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s technical and vocational education.
The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, unveiled the results at State House, Nakasero. UBTEB Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye expressed delight in presenting the outcomes for Diploma and Certificate programs in Business, Technical and Physical & Biological Sciences.
A total of 1,926 candidates registered for the examinations, conducted from July 27 to August 30, 2024, in 45 assessment centers. Notably, 1,804 candidates (94%) pursued Diploma programs, while 122 candidates (6%) pursued Certificate programs. Male candidates outnumbered females, with 1,393 (72%) males and 533 (28%) females.
The results demonstrated impressive competence, with 1,562 candidates (82%) successfully completing their programs. Female candidates achieved an impressive 84% completion rate, surpassing males at 80%. Female candidates excelled in Fashion and Garment Design, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture and Business diploma programs. Nine candidates with special needs sat for the examinations, with six successfully completing their studies.
UBTEB’s comprehensive assessment integrated Continuous Assessment, Industrial Training, Practical Assessment, Real-life Projects and final written examinations. This approach prepares trainees for career progression, employment and entrepreneurship.
Oyesigye emphasized key recommendations: financial support for UBTEB Institutions to implement the TVET Policy 2019, expedited curricula review for trainees with Special Needs, early placement of trainees for Industrial Training and strengthening training delivery of specific modules affecting performance.
UBTEB acquired Quality Management System Certification from Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), ensuring global recognition of its assessment system and processes.
Candidates can access their results online by visiting the UBTEB Electronic Information Management System (EIMS) website, entering their registration number as email and password and accessing their results and other details. However, candidates with blocked access due to school restrictions or debt should contact their institutions for resolution.
