LUWERO – Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has withheld the results of 264 candidates from four schools in Luweero district due to suspected examination malpractice in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
The affected schools and the number of candidates whose results have been withheld are:
- Nalongo Islamic Primary School – 54 students
- Bombo Parents Primary School – 62 students
- Rapha Primary School – 100 students
- Zuhurah Education Centre, Nkondo – 48 students
According to Dan N. Odongo, Executive Director of UNEB, the Board’s Examination Security Committee (ESC) has been investigating the matter and will require the affected candidates to appear before the committee for a hearing.
“The purpose of this exercise is to ensure that the integrity of our examinations is maintained,” Odongo said. “We will not tolerate any form of examination malpractice, and we will take all necessary steps to ensure that those involved are held accountable.”
The hearing will be conducted in accordance with the principles of Natural Justice, and all expenses will be met by the candidates and other affected persons.
UNEB has notified the Chief Administrative Officer/Town Clerk of Luweero district about the development and has requested that the affected schools and candidates be informed to comply with the notice. The date of the hearing will be communicated in due course.
This move by UNEB is part of its efforts to maintain the integrity and security of examinations in Uganda. The Board is mandated to conduct and manage examinations in Uganda, and it has a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice.
