KAMPALA – The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has embarked on a nationwide sensitization campaign to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. As part of this initiative, UBTEB has partnered with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance to utilize free government broadcast airtime on radio and television stations.
The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance secured this airtime under the Public Education Media Programme to promote government programs, projects, and activities. UBTEB’s campaign aims to educate the public about Career Progression in TVET, TVET Reforms, and the benefits of TVET programs.
“We believe that this campaign will not only enhance awareness of TVET programs but also improve the reputation of TVET institutions and the overall TVET sector in Uganda,” said Onesmus Oyesigye, UBTEB Executive Secretary.
“We urge all stakeholders to support this initiative and promote TVET programs in their respective communities.”
To achieve this, UBTEB has introduced a team to conduct talk shows on radio and television stations across the country. The team, coordinated by Principal Communications and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kambaho Narasi, will work closely with local government offices to utilize the government airtime.
Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, emphasized the importance of utilizing government airtime for public education.
“The Public Education Media Programme is a vital tool for promoting government programs and activities,” she said.
“We are pleased to partner with UBTEB to promote TVET programs and contribute to the development of Uganda’s human resource.”
The talk shows will focus on five key areas: institutional profiles, TVET training programs, admission requirements, TVET reforms, and success stories of TVET graduates. UBTEB believes that this campaign will contribute to the success of the TVET sector and ultimately transform government service delivery.
For more information or to participate in the talk shows, institutions can contact Mr. Kambaho Narasi on +256782435903/+256700410735 or email kambahonarasianyijuka@gmail.com.
The UBTEB sensitization campaign is expected to run for several months, covering all regions of Uganda. The campaign aims to reach a wide audience, including prospective students, parents, and other stakeholders. By promoting TVET programs, UBTEB hopes to increase enrollment and improve the quality of TVET training in Uganda.
