
MBARARA – As the political fever shakes Mbarara city ahead of the general elections, an unorthodox opinion poll has picked out three new entrants as front runners.
Mbarara City, is divided into Two (2) Constituencies – Mbarara South and Mbarara North, both composed Six (6) Divisions – Nyakayoojo, Nyamitanga, Kakoba, Kamukuzi, Kakiika and Biharwe, including a third seat for the city’s Woman MP.
According to the poll, conducted by Public Opinions International in conjunction with other political organisations including the NRM’s Poor Youth, Ms Bonny Kashaija Mutungi is leading the polling for the seat of Mbarara City Woman MP with 49 percent ahead of close challenger former Mbarara Woman MP Emma Boona who is at 30 percent.
In the race for Mbarara City North, NRM member of the Central Executive Committee, representing the business community Ambassador Robert Rukaari is head over hills to Mbarara Municipality MP Micheal Tusiime with 42% to Tusiime’s 35%.
And in the race for Mbarara City South, new broom Emma Mbareebaki leads Mr. Mwine Mpaka, the current Youth MP for western region by a big margin of 53 percent to 28%.

The sample of Fifteen thousand (15,000) voters were picked at random including business people in towns and trading centres, City Boda Boda community, Zepher Muhangi, a member of the NRM poor youth says.
Other places included the Taxi parks, Petrol stations, Local farmers in village communities, workers in parastatal govt agencies and Hospitals.
