KAMPALA – The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has said Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala did not pick any nomination forms from their offices and described her as an impostor.
FDC on Wednesday rejected nomination papers for Nabilah who is seeking to run for Kampala Lord Mayorship in the 2021 general election. The party said she failed to beat the deadline of submitting in her nomination form that ended on Tuesday.
Later, FDC Electoral Commission Chairman Toremuka Bamwenda said they checked in their records and did not find any record of Nabilah picking the nomination forms.
“It is unfortunate that an imposter (Nabilah) came to the party headquarters purporting to be nominated. We have checked in our records; she did not even pick forms from the party headquarters. Not even at the district FDC branch,” he said.
“It is very unfortunate that some leaders can be dishonest to that level of forging nomination papers and again, presenting themselves for nomination beyond the stipulated time,” he added.
However, Nabilah hit back at FDC officials, describing them as unprofessional. She insists that she has to participate in the party primaries because all she wants is “to offer my party leadership as Lord Mayor.”
The initial deadline for all interested FDC party aspirants to return nomination forms was on July 7 but the party extended it for seven more days until July 14.
