KISORO – Police in Kisoro have arrested incumbent Member of Parliament for Bufumbira South Hon. Sam Bitangaro for alleged disobedience of lawful orders.
According to the Kigezi Region Spokesperson IP Elly Maate, police received Intelligence information about the disobedience of lawful orders by Bitangaro who held a rally on Wednesday, 26 August 2020 at Kabindi Playground in Nyarusiza Subcounty Kisoro District that attracted many people and failed to observe social distance.
“A team was dispatched to the scene, however, due to the bad terrain of the area, Police found when the rally had already ended,” he said in a statement.
He revealed that the MP talked to people briefly and continued to other Villages of the same Subcounty.
“Police deployed in the areas of Buhangura, Karambi, Mubande and Bushoka Trading centres all in Nyarusiza Subcounty where he had planned other rallies to prevent him going ahead with his plans,” said Maate.
Maate further noted that Bitangaro was arrested after being traced by police.
