
KAMPALA – Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has been declared winner of 2nd National Vice Chairperson of the ruling NRM after trouncing her challenger Lands Minister Persis Namuganza.
In the results announced by the NRM Electoral Commission chief Dr. Tanga Odoi in the wee hours of Friday morning, Kadaga got 6,776 votes while Namuganza obtained 3,943 votes.
In the other positions competed for, Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah won the Vice-Chairperson Northern region slot in with 7,474 beating his immediate contender Sam Engola with a vote difference of 5,809.
Regarding the NRM Vice Chairperson Central region slot, Minister Kiwanda Godfrey Ssuubi has emerged winner with 4,749 votes.
His contenders Moses Kalangwa Kalisa got 3,701, John Magaro 675 and Moses Mayengo 127 votes.

Capt. Mike Mukula won the Vice-Chairperson Eastern slot with 5,818 votes whereas his contenders Sanjay Tana obtained 4,162 votes and Christine Harriet Akello 162 votes.
The Vice-Chairperson Western Region slot was scooped by Newcomer Dr Chris Baryomunsi with 5947 votes beating the incumbent Maj. Gen. Matayo Kyaligonza who got 2550 votes.
Singh Katongole was announced Vice Chairperson for Kampala with 4503 votes whereas his rivals Amooti Nyakana and Uhuru Salim scooped 2665 votes each.
The NRM Vice Chairperson slot was won by Aleper Simon Peter with 8,143 votes.
