KAMPALA- State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda has pulled out of the race for Mityana North Member of Parliament.
The just elected NRM Vice Chairperson Central region made the revelation while addressing a gathering in the constituency.
Teary Kiwanda said the decision is after consultations with the leadership of the party.
“Your son Kiwanda is now a national asset so it’s not strange and new to allow another person represent you,” he said.
He further endorsed his opponent Kibedi Nsi Egumire who is expected to run unopposed on the NRM ticket.
Minister Kiwanda won the Central region slot after winning with 4749 votes as the incumbent Hajji Abdul Nadduli was disqualified from CEC nomination.
Nadduli was disqualified on grounds that he didn’t resign his government position as Senior Presidential Advisor.
