
KAMPALA – Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has announced a change in dates of party primaries for Local Council five (LC 5) chairpersons, district councillors, city/division mayors and city/division councilors.
During a press conference at the party headquarters on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Uganda house, Kampala, the party Spokesperson Sharon Oyat Arach announced that the party primaries for LC 5 Chairpersons and District Councillors that were earlier on set for Friday, August 28, 2020, have been rescheduled to Saturday, September 5, 2020.
“The party primaries for city/division mayors and Councillors will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at their respective electoral units across the country beginning at 9:00 am and ending at 2:00 pm,” the party spokesperson said.
The party has adjusted it’s roadmap purposely to enable the older persons to participate in the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) parish elections as well as giving ample time to the aspirants for campaigning and getting prepared for the primaries.
The party reminds its parish candidates for older persons that elections will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020.
“We call upon all eligible voters at parish level to entrust UPC candidates with leadership for good service delivery,” she added.
